Grand new research project will ensure a green and safe digital future

April 25, 2023

Onics is participating in the grand new research project GreenCOM that aims to ensure significantly greener, safer and more energy efficient digital solutions.

GreenCOM is a broad, Danish research collaboration consisting of 18 companies, two universities, two research and technology organizations (GTS institutes), and two trade associations that will be working on producing 30 pathbreaking technology transfers to the industry to ensure more digitalization and a green transition at the same time.

Potential of reducing Denmark's electricity consumption with up to 10 %

Over the next 3 years, Onics and the other participating partners will be working on digital solutions that will ensure a digital infrastructure enabling internet connections to transport much more data much faster, cheaper, safer, and greener than today.

When the GreenCOM innovation platform has been launched, it has the potential to reduce the electricity consumption in Denmark with up to 10 %.

Furthermore, the GreenCOM project is aiming to establish a "fact-based, accredited energy certification of communication technologies and services in the entire value chain" to be able to evaluate which digital solutions are the greenest.

Building on Onics' hardware and software infrastructure to advance green and safe digital communication

Onics is proud to contribute to the GreenCOM project by providing hardware and software infrastructure and guidance on IoT and smart home technology to achieve the common goal of further advancing IoT technology and IoT security for a greener and safer digital future.
